The Ten Commandments of Harley Davidson

I haven't been around for a bit. I started a new job a little over two weeks ago. I spent the first week working full time at the old job and part time at the new job and then last week started fulltime at the new job so i haven't been able to spend time blogging. But i have thought of the folks in the blogger world often, just haven't had the time to get here. This morning i received a phone call 40 minutes before my alarm was scheduled to go off. So I'm using the extra time to catch up. I may make it to a few blogs but not nearly all that I want to make it too. The phone call was good news though so I thought I would share some humor with you all. The good news involves a fellow blogger......I can't share the secret but keep an eye on Anna's blog for the details, as I'm sure the proud Grandma will share the secret with you. Thanks everyone for all your support as I trudge this part of my journey.
The Ten Commandments of Harley Davidson

1. The one true American-made motorcycle is the Harley-Davidson, and thou shalt put no other motorcycles before it.

2. Thou shalt not bow down and worship nor serve the god of chrome; for, lo, he is a false god and will not get thy butt home.

3. Honor thy authorized dealer and thy hog chapter officers, that thy days may be long and fruitful in the land of Harley.

4. Remember the weekend, and keep it open. for it is written, five days shalt thou labor, and for two days shalt thou ride thy Harley, drink iced tea, and f**k off.

5. Thou shalt not covet thy neighbor's Harley, nor her manservant, nor her maidservant, nor her ox, nor her cute little ass.

6. From the throne of thine Harley, thou shalt not stoop to wave at sinners who ride jap-crap, for jap-crap is known to be the handiwork of the devil.

7. Thou shalt not pass by nor turn away from thy brother Harley rider who is in mechanical distress.

8. Thou shalt not pose. verily, I say unto you, it is easier for a poser to pass his gold visa card through the eye of a needle than to enter into the true fellowship of Harley-Davidson heaven.

9. When riding thy Harley on the road of life, thou shalt not whine nor snivel, and thou shalt not suffer to ride alongside those who do.

10. Park not thy Harley in the darkness of thine garage, that it may collect dust for want of being oft ridden, ride thy Harley with thy brethren, and rejoice in the spirit of the road.

Alcoholic Cat in The Hat....and Half Naaked Thursday

"An Alcoholic Cat in the Hat"

Id like another drink I think
Another drink to make me pink
I think Ill drink until I stink
Ill drink until I cannot blink

Perhaps Ill have a shot of rye
The rye I spy with my own eye
Some rye to make me fly so high
I think that I can touch the sky

Or maybe I will have some rum
Its not so dumb to want some rum
Ill drink and fall upon my bum
Or maybe contemplate my thumb

Some vodka would be very nice
Or wine or maybe Scotch on ice
Perhaps Kahlua would entice
Ill drink it once, Ill drink it twice

Perhaps some gin to make me grin
Its not a sin to want some gin
A 26 will make me spin
And then I will begin again

I want some beer to make me cheer
Hurray! Hurrah! A cheer for beer!
I will not stick it in my ear
Hurray! Hurrah! A cheer for beer!

Ill drink with my friends Jack and Ron
Ill drink until my livers gone
Ill invite Sam and Bud and you
And Captain Morgan can come, too

Im loaded now, I have to go
My brain is working very slow
Theres just one thing I need to know
Where is the can? I need to go

Stolen From Anna....Cause I needed to hear it!

Just last week Oprah had a whole show on how great menopause will be... Puhleeeeeeeze! I've had a few thoughts of my own and would like to share them with you.

Whether you are pushing 40, 50, 60 (or maybe even just pushing your luck) you'll probably relate. Mid-life is when the growth of hair on our legs slows down. This gives us plenty of time to care for our newly acquired moustache.

In mid-life women no longer have upper arms, we have wing spans. We are no longer women in sleeveless shirts, we are flying squirrels in drag.

Mid-life is when you can stand naked in front of a mirror and you can see your rear without turning around.

Mid-life is when you go for a mammogram and you realize that this is the only time someone will ask you to appear topless.

Mid-life is when you want to grab every firm young lovely in a tube top and scream, "Listen honey, even the Roman empire fell and those will too."

Mid-life brings wisdom to know that life throws us curves and we're sitting on our biggest ones.

Mid-life is when you look at your-know-it-all, beeper-wearing teenager and think: "For this I have stretch marks?"

In mid-life your memory starts to go. In fact the only thing we can retain is water.

Mid-life means that your Body By Jake now includes Legs By Rand McNally -- more red and blue lines than an accurately scaled map of Wisconsin .

Mid-life means that you become more reflective...You start pondering the "big" questions. What is life? Why am I here? How much Healthy choice ice cream can I eat before it's no longer a healthy choice?

But mid-life also brings with it an appreciation for what is important. We realize that breasts sag, hips expand and chins double, but our loved ones make the journey worthwhile. Would any of you trade the knowledge that you have now, for the body you had way back when? Maybe our bodies simply have to expand to hold all the wisdom and love we've acquired. That's my philosophy and I'm sticking to it!

Thanks for sharing this today Anna Poo! I started my day stuck in self pity today. I was up a good chunck of last night reflecting on 40 years and all the things I had failed to accomplish and all the things that I fucked up. I went to one of my favorite spots on the river to take care of an amends I owed to my name sake my Grandfather Rex, whom I have always shared every birthday with until he passed away about 6 months before I got sober. While sitting there enjoying the calm and feeling close to my Higher Power, it hit me that I was going about my day all wrong. In forty years I have gained so much:
  • Sobriety
  • A wonderful marriage going on 21 years
  • Two kids who are the best
  • A career that helps me give back all that I've been given
  • Friends who would go to any length for me, as I would for them
  • A fellowship, a family really that continues to grow every day
  • health, happiness, peace and serenity

Those things are far better than I ever could have wished for and I would not trade them if I could. Thanks to all of you in my "family" who continue to support me as I trudge on my journey.

AAADD

I got this from a friend today and couldn't resist putting it on hear. I laughed all they way through it.

I know the rest of you are not like this, but it sounds a teensy weensy bit like your truly. A.A.A.D.D. - Age Activated Attention Deficit Disorder. - This is how it manifests ..... I decide to water my garden. As I turn on the hose in the driveway, I look over at my car and decide it needs washing. As I start toward the garage, I notice mail on the front verandah table that I brought up from the letter box earlier, just after the mailman had been. I decide to go through the mail before I wash the car. I put my car keys on the table, put the junk mail in the garbage bin beside the table, and notice that the bin is full. So, I decide to put the bills back on the table and take out the garbage first. But then I think, since I'm going to be near the post box when I take out the garbage anyway (and the mailman picks up the mail at noon) ... I may as well pay the bills first. So, I take my cheque book off the table, and see that there is only 1 cheque left. My spare cheque book is in my desk in the study, so I go inside the house to my desk where I find the can of Coke I'd been drinking earlier this morning. I'm know I going to look for my cheque book, but first I need to push the Coke can aside so that I don't accidentally knock it over. The Coke is warm, so I decide to put it in the refrigerator to make it cold again. As I head toward the kitchen with the Coke, a vase of flowers on the dining room table catches my eye -- they need water. I put the Coke on the dining room table and discover my reading glasses that I've been searching for all morning. I decide I better put them back on my desk, but first I'm going to put more water in the flowers. I set the glasses back down on the table, go to the kitchen sink to get a jug and fill it with water and suddenly spot the TV remote on the window sill. Some-one left it there. I realise that tonight when we go to watch TV, I'll be looking for the remote, but I won't remember that it's on the window sill, so I decide to put it back in the lounge room where it belongs, but first I'll water the flowers. I pour some water in the jug, but spill some on the floor. So, I set the remote back on the kitchen bench, get some towels and wipe up the spill. Then, I head down the hall trying to remember what I was planning to do. At the end of the day - the car isn't washed, - the cheques aren't written for the bills to be paid, - there is a warm can of Coke sitting on the dining room table, - the flowers don't have enough water, - there is still only 1 cheque in my cheque book, - I can't find the remote, - I can't find my glasses, - the garbage hasn't been taken out, - and I don't remember what I did with the car keys. Then, when I try to figure out why nothing got done today, I'm really baffled because I know I was busy all day, and I'm really tired now. I realise this is a serious problem, and I'll try to get some help for it, but first I'll check my e-mail.

Do me a favour. Forward this message to everyone you know, because I don't remember who the hell I've sent it to. Don't laugh - if this isn't you yet, your day is coming!!
