Mindfulness

Mindfulness is not just a word or a discourse by the Buddha, but a meaningful state of mind. It means we have to be here now, in this very moment, and we have to know what is happening internally and externally. It means being alert to our motives and learning to change unwholesome thoughts and emotions into wholesome ones. Mindfulness is a mental activity that in due course eliminates all suffering.-Ayya Khema,

This is a tool I practice often. Being in the moment is an essential tool in my recovery. It is the only thing that is real, the right here, right now. Life has no gaureentees, this breath very well may be my last. If I live waiting for moments to come I will miss the beauty God has placed right before me right now. For me living is about living each moment to the fullest. In this way the chances of being overwhelmed by anyone one thing are minimal. I am not hampered by the past or anxious of the future because I'm concentrating on right here, right now.

Yesterday I started my day with the tape "Living Buddha, Living Christ", which of course talked about mindfulness. Its all about being present in each moment. It really helped center me as my mind was in full flight, but it didnt take long to get centered again. It was great to see you mention mindfulness... of course nothing is coincidental.

I can not think of a better way to go through life. With my situation, the one thing that really came out of it, was the fact that all that matters is now. I can not control what happened, or what will happen. I just have to stay true to me, stay now, and I may be able to hold on to my sanity---for right now!!
Great post!!

This was good for me this early Monday morning...because I am going practice staying in the moment today, instead of staying in the WHOLE day.

being in the moment... yes, yes, yes, yes, yes!

I so needed to be reminded of that... sitting here plotting, planning, etc. It sets me up for expecting... it's ok to plan, just don't plan the outcome. Thanks Rexie!
