Slow Dance
Have you ever watched kids
On a merry-go-round?
Or listened to the rain
Slapping on the ground?
Ever followed a butterfly's erratic flight?
Or gazed at the sun into the fading night?
You better slow down.
Don't dance so fast
Time is short.
The music won't last.
Do you run through each day
On the fly?
When you ask How are you?
Do you hear the reply?
When the day is done
Do you lie in your bed
With the next hundred chores
Running through your head?
You'd better slow down
Don't dance so fast.
Time is short.
The music won't last.
Ever told your child,
We'll do it tomorrow?
And in your haste,
Not see his sorrow?
Ever lost touch,
Let a good friendship die
Cause you never had time
To call and say,"Hi"
You'd better slow down.
Don't dance so fast.
Time is short.
The music won't last.
When you run so fast to get somewhere
You miss half the fun of getting there.
When you worry and hurry through your day,
It is like an unopened gift....
Thrown away.
Life is not a race
Do take it slower
Hear the music
Before the song is over.

Something I have learned in the program is to slow down and to live each day to the fullest. Sometimes the day isn't always the most pleasant and the feelings that arise are difficult for me to deal with. By staying in the day and feeling those things, and knowing that it will all pass and a new day will dawn is learning to live life on life's terms. When you know what suffering is than you can truly enjoy freedom. When you know what sadness is than you can truly enjoy hapiness. I spent a whole lifetime tryong to never feel pain, sadness, hurt, abandonment and many other unpleasant things but all I got out of it was the inability to really feel all the happiness, joy and freedom that life can bring.

Those are words to truly live by rexie! I have been doing better about taking time to notice the little things. I also try my best nto to blow my son off. I take time to play with him every day, and a lot on weekends! he's the only lil guy we got, and he's growing so fast, I dont want to miss a thing!
I am so glad you posted this.. :)
I am finally learning to slow down, and wow, guess what??? I get more time.. :)
Whoa, so beautifully written.

This concept was brought to me about 5 years ago by a very precious woman. She has severe diabetis -- has good days and bad days. She is always pleasant despite the pain she is in due to her physical condition.
This share has helped me to reflect on this person and the entire suggestion of feeling. It is a very spiritual message, thank you.
Good stuff...Ever told your child,
We'll do it tomorrow?
And in your haste,
Not see his sorrow?
Thats the one that gets me.
